September 11, 2026
Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001, a day that changed the world.
On this 25th anniversary, Vanguard Research Group pauses to remember the lost lives, honor the courage of those who responded, and recognize the many individuals, families, and communities who have carried the emotional impact of that day for a quarter of a century.
Families faced grief and uncertainty. First responders and recovery workers confronted extraordinary circumstances. Communities came together to support one another while beginning the long process of healing. Twenty-five years later, the significance of September 11 remains deeply rooted in our collective memory.
The Long-Term Impact of Trauma
The anniversary also provides an opportunity to recognize an important reality: the effects of traumatic events can continue long after the event itself.
For some people, memories associated with September 11 remain vivid decades later. Others may experience grief, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, or other emotional challenges connected to their experiences.
Trauma does not follow a fixed timeline. People can respond differently, and the need for support can change over time. Recognizing this reality is an important part of maintaining a compassionate approach to mental health.
Supporting Mental Health and One Another
At Vanguard Research Group, our work in behavioral health research reflects the importance of understanding mental health challenges and advancing knowledge that can ultimately improve care.
While research cannot change the events of September 11, continued attention to behavioral health can help expand our understanding of trauma and other mental health challenges that affect individuals and communities.
On this anniversary, we are reminded that reaching out, listening, and helping someone find appropriate support can make a meaningful difference.
A Moment to Remember
Twenty-five years later, we remember the people whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001. We remember their families, friends, colleagues, and communities.
We honor the first responders, service members, healthcare professionals, recovery workers, volunteers, and others who served during one of the most difficult periods in our nation’s history. And we recognize the resilience of the people who have continued to move forward while carrying memories of that day.
On September 11, 2026, Vanguard Research Group joins communities across the nation in marking the 25th anniversary with remembrance, respect, and hope for the future.
